Not every meal around Christmas needs to be the full sh’bang with turkey and all, in-fact sometimes it’s nice to plan for a light and casual meal for late afternoon grazing when you can’t face another bowl of Aunt Peggy’s Christmas Trifle in your belly.
Our ideal setting for Christmas this year is less traditional, yet still encourages Christmas cheer with family and friends accompanied by a light and fresh grazing table and setting. We have put together a menu and simple sophisticated styling for you to follow for your Christmas Day entertaining. All you need to do is follow the recipe.
You can style this dining table yourself in your dining room, out in the back yard or on the deck if it’s nice and sunny. The hero of this setting is the MarkAntonia floral arrangement that hangs over the dining table. You can make your own arrangement or wreath with dried or fresh flowers to hang above the table, adding Christmas decorations to tie it in with your Christmas tree theme if you are into matchy matchy!
Don’t forget to add some seed fairy lights to your styling on the table, which creates a beautiful ambience as you enter into the night.
For each individual table setting we have used handmade ceramics matched with a sophisticated brass cutlery and napkin ring set. Placed on a rustic elm wood dining table with an array of organic fruits, fresh food and ornaments.
And as Christmas Day is all about the food, we have a simple recipe to follow for your grazing table needs, which was inspired by a Bay of Plenty brand ‘Humbe Kitchen’ who specialize in homemade preserves.
Humble Kitchen has taken New Zealand Packham pears, warming spices, organic coconut sugar and a touch of sea salt to create Salted Caramel Spiced Pear Butter.
This incredibly tasty preserve is truly Christmas in a jar, and inspired us to embrace a light and tasty grazing table and menu for our Christmas entertaining.
Whether you choose to eat it sweet or savory, it pairs perfectly with a soft creamy brie, or rich crumbly blue and oatcakes making it the perfect accompaniment to your Christmas cheeseboard or grazing table.
