How to create a Great White Lounge

Styled by: Alex Walls

Photography: Wendy Fenwick

We paired up with Dulux and Homestyle Magazine to illustrate how to apply White to the walls in your lounge but ensuring you are left with a unique and interesting look.

I’m always drawn to a soft and minimalist colour scheme for its relaxed feel and versatility within our homes. However, a pale and neutral colour scheme always comes with a bit of a challenge to add depth and a pop of personality among it.

Inspired by a commonly used white, to create some depth I’ve incorporated texture where I can. With grooved wall panels to add depth to the ‘Dulux Okarito’ paired with a very inviting dove grey sofa and woolly patterned rug.

To contrast the white, I’ve translated the neutral into natural tones, adding a lovely muted green and grounding it with a beautifully rich moss brown ‘Dulux Invercargill’ on the floor.

Keeping on nature’s path, using warm tones of timber and cosy animal hides for furniture and accessories ties the three natural tones together and adds a lovely depth and warmth to the scheme.

This simple colour scheme is timeless and encourages calm and cosy living.
